THE DETERMINATION OF THE ROTATIONAL STATE - CORE

This innovation will provide important insight into mechano-biology of disease progression. © 2020 The Author (s) We have developed and investigated a novel optical approach, Laser Speckle Rheology (LSR), to evaluate a patient’s coagulation status by measuring the viscoelastic properties of blood during coagulation. In LSR, a blood sample is illuminated with laser light and temporal speckle intensity fluctuations are measured using a high-speed CMOS camera. Laser speckle microrheology is used to determine a mechanical property of a biological tissue, namely, an elastic modulus. Speckle frames may be acquired by illuminating a coherent light and capturing back-scattered rays in parallel and cross-polarized states with respect to illumination. We specifically focus on laser speckle rheology (LSR), a technology that quantifies the mechanical properties of tissues in a rapid, noncontact manner.

Nilsson Slurry rheology of industrial minerals and its effects on Our group has developed a new optical approach, Laser Speckle Rheology (LSR), that measures the biomechanical properties of tissues, biofluids and biomimetic scaffolds with microscale resolution. The LSR instrument is unique in that it probes larger depths (up to 2mm), over a large field of view (several cm), within minutes and can be operated with the push of a button at a fraction of the cost (~$5,000-10,000). Laser speckle rheology (LSR) offers a new, noncontact optical approach. LSR uses an inexpensive laser similar to a common laser pointer to shine laser light on tissue—plus a camera to image speckle Laser Speckle Rheology (LSR) offers a novel, non-contact optical approach for evaluating the frequency-dependent viscoelastic properties of hydrogels. In LSR, a coherent laser beam illuminates the specimen and a high-speed camera acquires the time-varying speckle images.

Optotune laser speckle reducers remove local interferences and significantly reduce speckle noise in laser systems by dynamically diffusing the laser beam. Offering a compact size, integrated drive electronics, and vibration-less speckle reduction, Optotune laser speckle reducers are ideal for beam homogenization, 3D scanning, metrology, microscopy, and interferometry.
